LHLL DIVISION DESCRIPTION
Tee-Ball Division (Typically 5-6 year olds)
This
introductory division is for children ages 5-8. The 5 year olds must
turn 5 by April 30, 2007. This is Laguna Hills Little League's first
opportunity to introduce the players to the great sport of baseball
through a league-wide hitting and fielding fundamentals program. In
addition, we will be emphasizing participation and good
sportsmanship. All players will be hitting off a tee for the entire
season using a special soft safety baseball. Any players that are
league age 6 and have played one year of Tee-Ball previously may
sign up for the A-Minor division (Coach Pitch). Any players that are
league age 7-8 and feel they are ready for "coach pitch" may sign up
for the A-Minor division. No tryouts are required for T-Ball and
teams are formed in Late January.
A Minor
Division (Typically 7-8 year olds)
This division is for children ages 6-9. The 6 year olds must turn 6
by April 30, 2007. The A-Minor division will have the coach’s pitch
to the players for the first half of the season using a soft safety
baseball, the second half of the season players will be allowed to
pitch 4 balls to the batters to prepare them for AA play. This
division will place great emphasis on the players' understanding
their positions and the basic rules of baseball. Any players that
are league age 7-9 that are ready to try "players pitch" may sign up
for AA-Minor. However, AA-Minor players are required to tryout and
will be selected to AA-Minor based on age, ability, and
availability. No tryouts are required for A-Minor and teams are
formed in Late January.
AA Minor
Division (Typically 9-10 year olds)
The AA-Minor division is for player’s ages 7-10 years old. The 7
year olds must turn 7 by April 30, 2007. The AA-Minor division is
the players' first opportunity at "official baseball" in which the
players will pitch to each other for the entire season and the score
will be kept. Players will be expected to learn position
responsibilities and to develop a solid foundation of the rules of
baseball. The coaches at this level will be emphasizing strong
fundamentals as well as the importance of competition and
sportsmanship. Players must tryout for AA-Minor and the teams are
formed using a draft. Any players that are league age 9-10 and have
experience hitting against player pitch baseball may tryout for the
AAA-Minor division. However, all AAA-Minor players will be selected
based on age, ability, and availability.
AAA-Minor
Division (Typically 10-11 year olds)
The AAA-Minor division is for player’s ages 9-12. The 9 year olds
must turn 9 by April 30, 2007. The AAA-Minor division introduces the
added challenge of stealing bases and advancing on wild pitches.
This division will specifically focus on; balanced hitting, proper
fielding, throwing techniques, double play execution, plus pitching
and catching. Although game scores take on added importance at the
AAA-Minor level, sportsmanship, respect, camaraderie and skills
development are the primary goals. AAA-Minors play a competitive
season schedule and an even more competitive season ending
tournament. This division will also select an All-Star team that
will represent the city of Laguna Hills in a post season
local/regional/State wide tournament. All AAA-Minor players must
tryout to be selected onto a team. Any players that are league age
11 may try out for the Major division. Additionally, all league age
12 year old players must tryout for and be placed on a Majors team
unless they are considered to be at a safety risk if playing at that
level.
MAJOR DIVISION (11-12 year olds)
The Major division is for player’s ages 11-12. The 11 year olds
must turn 11 by April 30, 2007 and the 12 year olds must not turn 13
before May 1, 2006. The Major division is the most competitive
baseball played on the regulation Little League field. The coaches
will require players to think before each pitch, "What will I do if
the ball gets hit to me?" In addition, players need to really
understand the rules of baseball and constantly be aware of what
they are doing on the field and why they are doing it. Majors play
a competitive regular season schedule and an even more competitive
season ending tournament. All 11 and 12 year old players should
tryout for the Majors division. Additionally, all league age 12 year
old players must tryout for and be placed on a Majors team unless
they are considered to be at a safety risk if playing in this
division. This division will select an 11-12 year old All-Star
team that will represent the city of Laguna Hills at the highest
level local/nationwide tournament. In addition, this division will
select an 11 year old only All-Star team to compete in a
local/regional/State 11 year old tournament. Tryouts are required
for Majors team selection.

steal spikes. The coach’s will continue Laguna Hills Little League's
